Hi ,One of our clients wanted the DDR3 signals to be angle-routed. Can anyone explain how can it be done in ALLEGRO PCB EDITOR. Thanks in advance, Kingshar

    Please clarify...

He wants to be able to route in any angle (not 45 or 90 deg)? If so, when routing set your "line lock" in the options on the right to "off".

    Hi Thanks for the reply.

He wants it to routed at the angle of 10 degrees.
we tried routing with line lock "off"
But maintainin 10 degrees throughout the trace is the problem. That to the nets we ahve to route are differential pairs which have to be tuned after routing them with 10 degrees.
This is a very complex board .They are almost 500 nets of this kind.

I will really be thankful if i get any help suggestion regarding this.

    Thanks and regards,
    Kingshar.

    Hi Kingshar,
This is not impossible, just cumbersome. You may know that in Allegro you can route clines that are not connected to anything. So, route one cline close to the direction you want, without connection to anything. Move that trace and before placing it back down, go to the control panel 'Options' tab and in the Rotation field, type the value '10'. This will set rotation to 10 degree increments. Right click 'Rotate', spin the cline and put it down. At least in this way, you can set the 10 degree standard, you can copy and array these lines and you may also route your nets to these clines and make them connect. When you slide, they will maintain the 10 degree angle.
Yes, it's cumbersome but if you need to route through a channel at 10 degrees, it's one way to get there.
    HTH.
    Andrew
