Generating BOM from PCB File

Hi All,

I'm trying to write a skill function to:-

1) Automatically select all components in a board.

2) Group the selected components by Symbol

3) Print to file a simple BOM list.

For the first part the code is

axlClearSelSet()
axlSetFindFilter(?enabled "ALL" ?onButtons "NOALL")
axlSetFindFilter(?enabled "ALL" ?onButtons "symbols")
axlAddSelectAll()

1) The components are all selected, but how do I access the dbids?

2) After obtaining the dbids how do I access the Reference Designator and the Symbol Name?

Hi All,
Code works perfectly!!
I would like to include "value" of each component instances.
May I know how to access the value of a component (for example a capacitor has a value of 0.1uF)

pcbgeorge --- I wouldn't call that a bill of materials. What materials are listed? None. You did make a component usage report.

I thought the requestor was asking for a bill of materials .... i.e. something you can hand to a purchasing agent to have them buy.
What does your report do for you?

(Sorry, I tend to be a smart ass and I couldn't resist)

That was intended to be to show the general way to get the values, I don't have the time to put together and debug a full BOM when it is on no use to me or my employer. We generate our BOM from the schematic, not the CAD tool.
