Create component

Hi

Is there a axl function to create a component without a device file

or alternatively an axl command to generate a device file from a symbol (.dra) file. I could probably do it with a script but would prefer an axl command.

Best regards

Ole

    In the board:

    •    axlDBCreateComponent but it requires a device file which wouldn't be that hard to create in Skill
    •    also there is axlWriteDeviceFile if you already have a comp that matches your requirement.

To generate a device file require logical data which is is not part of a dra.

You can make a template by trying the following:

     Use the non-public function: _writeDeviceFile(t_deviceName, t_className lt_pinNumbers)

t_className is the device entry for CLASS

You can get make up the pin numbers by iterating on the pins in the DRA, skipping mech pins and making a list of 'number' attribute from the pin ids.

Other device file data like functions, properties. etc., in the symbol editor, you would need to obtain from other sourc.

    Doesn't work for me...

    \i (00:01:25) skill
    \i (00:02:27) skill '_writeDeviceFile("bozo" "clown" ("a" "b" "c" "d"))'
(00:02:27) *Error* eval: undefined function - _writeDeviceFile
       (00:02:27) ERROR

    Hi

With this and other commands, is there a way to disable most of the reporting temporary? I would like to get only relevant reporting, the following info that I get is basically something I can live without.

    Any ideas?

    Finished loading SigNoise device libraries
        Checked 100 percent
    Creating device for r1206
Performing a partial database check before saving.
    Writing database to disk.
    'r1206.dra' saved to disk.
    Opening existing design...
Grids are drawn 400.000, 400.000 apart for enhanced viewability.
    Checking db records
        checking for orphans...

    Best regards

    Ole

If this is done via a script, you can add:

         scriptmode +noinfo

to the head of the script.
