Right Angle Route/Slot in Padstack?

melview1

I'm looking for advice on how to create an odd shaped padstack for some mounting pads on a USB connector (see top 2 mounting pads in picture).  It's a plated slot/route that has a right angle and the pad is the same shape.  The pad shouldn't be that hard to do with the "shape symbol" option for the pad layers, but the drill has me at a loss as to the best way to do it.

Thanks.

I think eDave's suggestion is the way I would do this, since you can control the plating of the slot, the NCROUTE_PATH is non-plated

David can you offer some insight on that. Not too sure what you mean with respect to controlling the plating of the slot.

    Thanks.

I the USB connectors I have built like this one, these slots are for connecting the metal shroud to GND, so they need to be plated

If you enable 'Separate files for plated/non-plated routing' in the NC Route form you will get 2 output files: <design_name>_<1-n>_plated.rou and <design_name>_<1-n>.rou

I find a layer is dedicated to plated slos: BOARD GEOMETRY/NCROUTE_PLATED

A line present on this sublclass will be present in outpout ncroute file.

BOARD GEOMETRY/NCROUTE_PATH  is only for non plated slots.

    Works fine on 17.2
