Allegro Graphics

Question

Hello All, 
 
 Has anyone run into these issues with the graphics in Allegro? Below are a few samples. 
 1. I have the rats nets on and when I move the component, the rats net line stays where it is and doesn't move with the component even after placing the component down. What I have to do is exit out of Allegro and go back in to refresh the display. FYI, I believe that for a ratsnet to follow the component, I have to disable or enable (I can't remember) "Slide Etch"? But this wasn't the case at all. 
 2. There are other times when it will not adjust the via shape clearances even after I "Update to Smooth". Same thing, I have to exit out then go back in. 
 3. One last example is when I try to move a trace or via and I cancel. Sometimes the via or trace just visually disappear and when I exit out of the program, it comes back. 
 I'm thinking it was my graphics card but found out that my colleagues ran into the same issue. I've only had these issues with V17.4.

You have several options: Please first make sure to update both graphics card drivers and restart the machine. 
 If the situation has not improved, you should try to disable one of the gpu devices in Device Manager > Display Adaptors >> (Rclick) Disable Device. Restart and check if this resolves the conflict. The usefulness of this is dependent on your system's usage of monitors and ports 
 As you have a CUDA supported GPU, you can also attempt address this conflict using the following steps in an effort to force Allegro to use the Nvidia card. To do this please go to Windows environment variables and add the new environment variable: 
 NV_PLUGIN_PATH 
 Please set the value to %CDSROOT%	ools\plugins\gpu Here, %CDSROOT% points to your installation directory. You should arrive there by entering this into explorer, which means you don't need to type the full path into the environment variable value. 
 A third option is to disable gpu in your user preferences.

To run graphics properly on a Windows machine using OpenGL, it is important that only one graphics card is used by the system. Some systems have both GPU and an integrated adapter running at the same time, resulting in unpredictable results in rendering. Please check your setup. Example below show two display drivers in device manager. 
 
 Please come back and let me know if the above is true. 
 Failing that we may need to directly set your plugin path using a windows environment variable to ensure the graphics card is being utilised. Please let me know what card vendor and type is used.
