Shape used as GND plane on top layer

Hi,

I'm new to Allegro Pcb Editor having used OrCAD Layout, and as software packages sometimes do similar things but differently, I wonder if there is a way to make the subject of this e-mail invisible but active in Editor. In other words, can I make the shape be there but not seen and still see the routed etch for the traces to the components pins?

Thanks,

Don't know of a way to just make the shape invisible, but you could try the following:

    1) Change the shape from solid fill to Xhatch fill and make the xhatch numbers so large, the shape is basically just the outline or

    2) User Preferences->Shape->no_shape_fill (but this will affect all shapes).

I had tried 1) but that added lines from the via connections to the shape making visibility poor if the XHatch grid was large.

I liked suggestion 2) alot. It defined just the outline and the voids. It is better than the way OrCAD did the skeleton display because it better defined the edges of the voids and does not clutter the rest of the image with hatching.

    Thank you very much!

Another option would be to use the OpenGL settings under Display - Color Visibility - Display. Change the open gl transparency for the global settings to be at least 80% and the shape transparency to max 20%.
