Yes. The translator is included with Allegro.

If u want to translate or import an orcad layout file to cadence SPB.16/allegro tools, there is a hotfix available with the cadence software package, if not check with the cadence local tech support.

However some modification might required for the footprints.

    regards,

    rinj

Hi, in order to translate all the info from layout world to Cadence PCB Editor (I'll refer to it as Allegro) world, you need to perform two tasks: firstly, translate the PCB you've made on Layout and secondly, translate the Layout libraries. First part: In order to translate the Layout's PCB you only need to invoke the translator from Allegro (file > import >OrCAD Layout), fullfil what the form asks, an then end you will get a .brd file on which you can work from allegro. Second part. Open Layout then create a Catalog of your .llb (Tools > Catalog > Create), this procedure take all the footprints contained in your .llb and places them nicely organized on a .max. Fulfill all what the Create Catalog form asks. Now transtale the resulting .max file as I mentioned on the first step. Little tip, remember you can save a PCB max (I'm talking about Layouy) file as an .llb in order to get a library that contains all the footprints you used on this PCB. Little tip, remember you can File > Export > Libreries (I'm talking about Allegro) in order to get all the .dra and .psm objects contained on your .brd file. That's all. Bye :)

    Hi,

Notice that if you have Release 16.2 installed the translation can be performed inside OrCAD Capture.

    Open the Capture project file.

Select Accessories, Layout to Allegro translator.

    Best regards,

    Ole
