special pad shape creation

stellar

I've created a pad shape in Autocad and then imported the dxf file into a new symbol drawing. I'm mapping the dxf to ETCH/TOP but when it comes in it doesn't act like a filled shape nor can I create a symbol from the imported drawing. I get errors in the log file complaining about clines and other things when I try to create the symbol.

    stellar,

It sounds like the shape was created using lines.

The shape must be created as a closed polyline.

     Best of luck,

     -oscar

First You should do a new shape not a new symbol drawing, sorry if i misunderstood. Second import from dxf only the outline and compose the shape from that.

Hi, if i may suggest, you could directly make special pad in allegro and use it in pad designer to create the .pad file. just create shape symbol (.ssm file) then in pad designer there is a shape category and browse the .ssm file you created

    Good day.

Getting closer with this. I was using Alibre to create the DXF and that appears to be a problem. I created the DXF in Autocad as a Polyline and that works now and I can create the ssm file. Now over in the pad designer I choose this as my shape and do a check on it and it says there are no errors. When I try to save it though it says "Pad stack origin outside all pads". I tried moving the origin in Autocad to a point on the shape but that didn't fix it.
