Capture CIS_Show Footprint

Can someone explain how I can set the correct paths for my symbol library so that I can view footprints inside capture. I have set the psmpath to the folder where my .psm and .dra files are located in the environment editor. However, when I select my part and choose show footprint I get an error stating allegro footprint not found in search path or something to that nature. However, if I use a symbol from the discrete capture library like a resistor and then select a footprint located in the cadence/..../share/pcb/pcb_lib/symbols folder it works. Are my libraries not set correctly even though I can place parts manually in pcb editor or is their something else I am missing. Thank you

It's very clear that you do not have a value set for the PCB Footprint. This is why you can't see it when you use RMB - Show Footprint and also why the netlister fails. Add a value for the PCB Footprint like SOIC8, 0603, QFP48 and make sure you have a PCB Footprint that matches that name and you should be good to go.

Find the part datasheet, locate the PCB Footprint, either find the footprint on line or create it in PCB Editor or PCB Libraries, save it and then use the footprint name as the property in Capture.

I have a strange problem with Capture CIS regarding footprints.

I can use the RMB->Show Footprint to view the Footprint of a part in my design, so it seems that the [Allegro Footprints] in the INI files is ok.

However when I open CIS explorer, I cannot see any footprint when I select a part - just the Symbol. The Footprint window is empty.

Is there a different place to link the footprint files into the CIS Explorer?

    Help appreciated.

    Cheers! Dave.
