It's not currently supported. Use either DXF or IDF.

Hi we have just seen the demo video of the PCB Editor STEP Import and Export it is scheduled for release in April 2013 but the local resellers should be getting code soon to be able to introduce it to the PCB Editor customers (OrCAD and Allegro). I must say it looks fantastic and is going to be worth the wait. Cadence quite rightly have designed their own and not OEM'd a 3D pack like most of the other EDA tools do.

Have the latest hotfix for 16.6 ... 009 and have seen no documentation or notice of importing STEP files. I too saw a demo at CDN Live in March and thought it would be out soon. Anyone have anymore info on this? Or know where they've hidden it?

Setup - User Preferences - unsupported - enable step_unsupported_prototype then restart the tools. For videos for all the STEP stuff go to youtube\Parsyseda and search for STEP.
