    Hi,

thanks a lot, I do appreciate your cooperation.

still some info are confusing as you see in quotation from cadence notice, Sun4 not supported, red hat 4 not supported, Solaris SPARC not supported, as end user I got confused, which of which ?

and my question can I make partition from my PC and install red hat and wind 7 and run the cadence using red hat, is it possible?

you mentioned Allegro, is it the latest release of cadence, is there other options ?

the following are quotation from cadence web:

from cadence notice  "Red Hat RHEL 4 EOL Customer Communication January 29, 2010 "
     :
To that end, Cadence will end support for the Red Hat RHEL 4 OS on the 32-bit and 64bit
X86 hardware platforms and RHEL5 will become the baseline Red Hat Linux OS for all new Cadence releases beginning January 1, 2011.

from cadence notice : "Solaris SPARC EOL Customer Communication January, 2013 "

To that end, Cadence will end support for the SPARC architecture running the Solaris
operating system starting with all 2014 base releases. Updates and hot-fixes to products
that currently support Solaris SPARC can be expected to continue to support Solaris
SPARC throughout their normal product lifecycle.
If you currently run Cadence products on Solaris SPARC, we encourage you to move to
any of our supported Linux versions on X86 hardware for all current and future product
releases.  For more information about Cadence products and the Cadence Compute
Platform Roadmap, visit the support website at http://www.cadence.com/support.

    thanks

It seems that you have some confusion about "not supported", that would mean "not supported" as in a binary for that platform / operating system is no longer provided and therefore unlikely to install / work. I doubt that your PC is running SPARC so that would eliminate that from any consideration, supported, or not, if it is, Windows won't be an option. You are going to need Windows 7, or 8 (8.1), 64 bit (recommended) to run the SPB tools under Windows. If you are looking at running the OrCAD tools, Windows is your choice. IF you are looking at running the Allegro tools, you have a choice of OS, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.5, or 6, or SuSe Enterprise Linux 10, or 11, all 64 bit would be the options for Linux, or the same Windows options as the OrCAD tools. How you configure your system is down to you, whatever partitioning you have will need to allow sufficient space for the OS, the tools, and some space to save work in.
