Allegro screen white out

PhilH
PhilH over 8 years ago

Running Windows 10 with 16.6 and latest hotfix. Windows 10 did an update the other day and now my Allegro screen whites out if I hover over the visibility tab or if I click on any other application that is open. This is happening on multiple computers at multiple locations. Any one else experiencing this? Anyone know of a fix?

    For those on Windows 7

    - RMB on the allegro.exe

    - Select Properties and navigate to Compatibility Tab

    - Uncheck the "Disable visual themese" checkbox

    On Windows 10

    - Run the Registry editor (regedit)

    - Navigate to the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers

    - Delete the key that has allegro.exe in the name and data value of DISABLETHEMES (or ~DISABLETHEMES)

This approach may work on some machines but not all. It did not work on my machine which prompted a group effort between myself, EMA and Cadence yesterday. I believe Cadence has a grip on the issue and should incorporate a solution into the next hotfix.

This issue is caused by an update to the windows OS.   Cadence will address this in an updated 17.2 installation.   The steps  how the issue can be resolved without re-installation of the software are in Troubleshooting article Allegro PCB Editor, SiP or APD canvas turns white

Thanks Sagetech. Thats awesome. I played around with the settings under the .exe compatibility tab - tried reverting the display settings back to Windows 8 and 7 and couldn't get anything to work, so ill keep my fingers crossed for the next hot fix.
