Cadence Orcad/Allegro SPB 17.2 Release

Hello,

Excuse my question, I am new to PCB Design.

Is the Cadence SPB / OrCAD 17.2 release one that includes BOTH OrCAD and Allegro of Cadence PCB software ?

I want to use Allegro not ORCAD.

I would like to purchase Allegro but I only see this Cadence/OrCAD 17.2 SPB release on the Cadence website.

Can someone let me know - if I purchase this SPB release do I get BOTH OrCAD and Allegro ?

Thank you.

Yep.  There is a feature matrix that explains the nuances between the license levels but I suspect the base level OrCAD tools will do what you need.

Check this Matrix out which gives detail as to what you get / don't get in each level:- www.parallel-systems.co.uk/matrix and just to correct you OrCAD Std and Pro get IDX import and export....

Thank you for the Parallel-systems matrix..  It's been a while since I've used Orcad layout.

Can Orcad Pro import GDS II data like Allegro?

    That would be a No.

Well, I am actually looking for RF and Microwave capabilities at greater than GHz frequencies - so I think or I was told that OrCAD is not as good as Allegro for that ?

Is that correct ?  Allegro is the better option for high speed/RF//Microwave PCB layout.  Is that not correct ?
