Graphics Cards and High-Speed/Miniaturization Options

I just recently started using the High-Speed/Miniaturization options with Allegro 172, and suddenly I'm experiencing crashing at least 2-3 times a day. The error message says "Program has encountered a problem and must exit...". In working with my support folks, I was advised to try disabling OpenGL. That fixed the crashing problem, but I like OpenGL because I like to see the netnames on my traces. After doing some research, I'm now questioning whether my graphics card (Intel UHD Graphics 620) is adequate for the High-Speed/Miniaturization option. Does it really required more graphics horsepower than I have? Has anyone else experienced this issue? Do I need a new laptop? Thanks for any guidance.

Are there any driver updates from Intel or your laptop manufacturer as your graphics are built into your pentium chip?

I checked Intel's website and it states 'There are currently no downloads available for Intel UHD Graphics 620'.

Hello, the first thing you would want to do is look at the windows logs to determine where the error is coming from. Take a look at the logging in the windows event viewer. There are a number of logs in there but the
application log or the system log may show an error at the time the program stopped working.

You did not mention what operating system version you are running ?, I assume your on windows. Other things you could try is take a look in the intel video driver and see if there is anything to enable double or triple buffering. Sometimes this is under video playback. FYI the intel graphics use system ram. Depending on how much ram is in your laptop this can directly effect the blitter operations inside the chip. Blitting is basically
rendering the graphics to your monitor.

If you were on a desktop my recommendation would be to use one of the AMD Radion Pro WX series of graphics cards. The WX-4100 is very good. That series of cards is designed for workstation graphics.

Thank you, I appreciate your feedback. We are running 17.2-2016 S051 [1/28/2019] Windows SPB 64-bit Edition on Windows 10. I will need to research how to find the appropriate Windows logs and the driver settings.
