Use of LibreOffice versus MS Excel for Capture BOM Creation

Folks,

Had this discussion sometime back on the forum, but am I the only one who does not want to continue paying Microsoft for their Office Suite when there exists many open-source office suites.  Most notable among them is Libre Office.  Would be nice if Capture could also "look" for LibreOffice's Calc and not just MS Excel through the API call.

Thoughts, people?

    Hi,

    It is not just the money, but really about the option of choice.  Why not?  MS Excel is not the only spreadsheet application for the desktop.

    The EOL date for CIS support has been set.  I don't predict a happy outcome and Excel is well worth the $100.

    EOL on Cadence CIS? I asked our channel partner today and they had heard nothing of Capture obsolecense.

    Can you verify this statement?

    EOL on CIS I have invested a lot of money and time on CIS i too want some verification on EOL on CIS
