How can we minimise the errors created while autorouting the board in the specctra autorouter?

Hi all,

I've autorouted the .brd file by Route ->Route Editor command in the Allegrto PCB Design GXL.I heard that the constraints set on the Allegro PCB Design GXL is transported to Specctra while giving the above command for autorouting.I've set the constraints such as line to line spacing, pad to line spacing etc, still these errors are generated after the .brd file is routed in the specctra.how can we minimize these errors? Is there any settings for this?

Can anyone pls xplain this?

Thanx

Neha

Specctra works on a Conflict Reduction algorithm. When routing starts, conflicts like crossing traces invalid spacing and so on are permitted, as the routing progresses on the design a variety of strategies are used to reduce the conflicts and route the board. If it is not possible to fully route the board, conflicts will remain. If you are using the Route>Route Editor interface, use Edit>Delete Wires>Conflicts, pick "Segments" in the dialog to remove connect line segments rather entire connect lines or nets. It may, or may not, be possible to route the board manually after deleting the conflicts, for example, more routing layers, finer trace / space rules, smaller vias and the like might be required to get 100% completion.

    Hi oldmouldy,

The use of Edit>Delete Wires>Conflicts can be done after the autorouting, right? This will take alot of manual work to re-route the wires. Is there any measure to reduce the errors while routing?

Is there any settings in the Route Editor or any commands in the .do file using that should obey the constraints inherited from the Allegro PCB Designer GXL and the constraints set on the .do file??

    Thanks,

    Neha
