CDNLive India

25 Jul 2016 • 2 minute read

CDNLive India is coming up on August 9th and 10th in Bengaluru. I will be there and so Breakfast Bytes will be covering some of what goes on there. It is not my first trip to India or even to Bengaluru (although it was still called Bangalore back then). When I ran engineering at Compass Design Automation, I set up a development group in India, although we decided for a number of reasons to do that in Hyderabad rather than Bangalore or Delhi/Noida, which were the other obvious choices. Greg Hinckley, who is now Mentor's CFO/COO, was VLSI Technology's CFO at the time and I'm sure that is one reason that Mentor ended up with their Indian R&D centered in Hyderabad, too.

The first day kicks off with a welcome from Jaswinder Ahuja, who is the managing director of Cadence India.

That will be followed by two keynotes:

  • A corporate and technology update from Cadence Senior VP Anirudh Devgan
  • Karthik Sankaran of Analog Devices Inc. (ADI). He is general manager of the internet of things (IoT) platform.

That is followed by what in the US we'd call a coffee break, but the British influence remains strong in India, so it is a tea break.

After that, the meeting splits up into 5 parallel tracks:

  1. System / Verification: Advanced Methodology
  2. System / Verification: Productivity
  3. System / Verification: Hardware Assisted
  4. System / Verification: Formal
  5. PCB and IC Packaging Design

The four verification tracks start off merged into one. This starts with a 45-minute technology update followed by an IP session, consisting of an update on Cadence's IP family and an invited presentation from Open-Silicon, Conquering System-Level Issues with LPDDR3 Flexibility. After that, the four verification tracks start. Lunch is from 1:00-2:00pm.

The following day there are two more keynotes:

  • Cadence update and technology keynote from Vivek Mishra, VP of the digital and signoff group
  • Balaji Kanigicherla, who is founder, CTO, and vice president of engineering of Ineda Systems

The rest of the day is in five parallel tracks, but different tracks from the first day:

  • System to Signoff: Digital Implementation
  • System to Signoff: Signoff
  • System to Signoff: Digital Front-end Design
  • Custom/Analog: Verification
  • Custom/Analog: Implementation

Companies presenting over the two days include Broadcom, TI, Samsung, ARM, Analog Devices, Infineon, NXP, Lattice, Xilinx, Qualcomm, Wipro, Mindtree, ST, and more. Plus, of course, the occasional Cadence presentation.

CDNLive India is in the Park Plaza Hotel, Bengaluru, on Tuesday, August 9, and Wednesday, August 10. Full details, including a link for registration, are here.
