Leveraging Search Preference to Get the Best Out of support.cadence.com

19 Jul 2024 • 3 minute read

Cadence offers many products around the EDA spectrum, from PCB Design to Custom IC Design. In Cadence parlance, they are called platforms and contain multiple tools that help in specific phases of the Design Flow. Therefore, each platform contains documentation and videos that help you get the best usage results from your various products. You can find everything well placed on the Cadence Learning and Support Portal, accessible 24/7 for all customers with a Learning and Support account. (Learn more about accessing our platform and product pages in the Cadence Learning and Support Portal.)

You can use the filters on the search results page to narrow your search to a specific platform or product. If you wish to make any platforms or products the default filter for all your searches, then we have a simple way to personalize and refine the search by setting search preferences on the site.

Just go to https://support.cadence.com and log in with your credentials. Then click on "My Support" and "My Account & Preferences."

You will see the following options:

Read this blog if you want to know more about the "Notification Preferences," but in this post, we would like to introduce "Search Preferences."

You can enter your search preferences using the following options, and you can also change or add anything at any time.

Release Preferences (for Product Manuals only)

The releases selected below will become your default search preferences for Product Manuals. You will find the products (in alphabetical order) with their release version there; you can add any number to your search here.

Platform Preferences

The platforms selected below will become your default search preferences. (Note: All products under the selected platforms will be searched by default.)

The same procedure applies—you will see all Platforms listed in alphabetical order, and you can add all relevant Platforms to your search option. (View Products in a Platform.) Finally, you can add finishing touches to your search preferences by entering your preferred products.

Product Preferences

The products selected below will become your default search preference. Click on to open another window.

Here, you can enter the product name into the search field or scroll down in the pull-down menu to find the related one, click the arrow to add it to your search, and click "done" when finished.

If you have already selected any platform, you need not specifically choose the products under that platform, as all products you selected are already set in your preferences. And don't forget to click the "Save" button in the lower right corner to save all your search preferences. You will immediately notice that you need less time to find precisely what you seek.

Once you have set your search preference and perform a search on https://support.cadence.com, you will see on top of the search results indicating the preference has been applied. You can use the "X" beside text preferences to relax the search preferences temporarily for that specific search.

Did You Already Know?

Cadence offers a wide variety of Online Courses, which can be found at https://support.cadence.com. If you have already adjusted your search preferences, you will be shown exactly the training courses that match your needs. Please read more about this in this Blog.

We can also organize the training in an Instructor-Led format; please contact Cadence Training if you have any questions.

There is also a Digital Badge available for almost all our trainings, find more information in this Blog.
