Lab Certification Program Renewed

9 Feb 2023 • 1 minute read

The Cadence Academic Network Lab Certification Program has existed for many years with participating universities in countries like Germany, Poland, Ukraine, Bulgaria, and Kazakhstan, which have all successfully completed the certification process. Labs become certified when all the lab instructors take a series of courses in a specific topic, showing that they are trained on the latest Cadence tools and design flows, learn more.

With Cadence products becoming more diversified and the expansion of new microelectronic topics, we decided to create new certification tracks. Learn more about the new profiles:

System Verification with Perspec and SystemC

Certified instructors will learn how verification of a complete system is different than IP blocks or subsystems. Systems are modelled in SystemC and verified with Perspec, creating code sequences, which verify the interplay of various subsystems

Block Design and Verification with Xcelium and JasperGold Technology

For block level verification two technologies are used, formal verification and dynamic verification, also called simulation. Certified instructors will be able to teach how to use Cadence Xcelium Digital Simulator and JasperGold Formal Verification for verification solutions.

PCB Analysis with Sigrity Technology

High-speed buses, RF-signals and rough environments need to be analyzed before the PCB gets manufactured. Certified instructors will be able to leverage Cadence Sigrity suite of tools for electro-magnetic analysis, thermal analysis, signal integrity and IR-drop checks on system level.

RF Design and Analysis with SpectreRF, Microwave Office and Clarity EM

Cadence is offering a variety of tools for RF and microwave designers. Certified instructors will become familiar with the tool offerings and understand which tool can be used for which purpose.

Given the expanded training offerings, we’ve also carefully re-evaluated the existing profiles and updated which courses should be successfully completed to become a certified lab.

The certification is free of charge; is an effective opportunity to present the university lab as a close and strong industrial partner; ensures the students that the knowledge they are receiving in this lab is industry relevant and is valued by their future employers; and keeps instructors up-to-date on the latest Cadence technologies. There is actually no reason not to become a certified instructor and lab!
