New Spectre AMS Designer Features in XCELIUM 25.09

7 Nov 2025 • 1 minute read

The XCELIUM 25.09 release is now available for download at Cadence Downloads. For information on supported platforms and other release compatibility information, see the README.txt file in the installation hierarchy.

XCELIUM 25.09

Here are some important updates introduced in the Spectre AMS Designer 25.09MAIN release.

  • Spectre AMS Designer supports XScale Distributed Processing (XDP) from Spectre X: Starting this release, the distributed multi-machine simulation is supported in Spectre AMS Designer for the Spectre solver. This enhancement enables simulation workloads to be distributed across multiple machines and cores, which improves scalability and performance. This capability is well suited for complex testbenches that instantiate a large number of transistor-level subcircuits and parasitic elements. By leveraging distributed compute resources, you can reduce simulation turnaround time and efficiently manage higher-capacity designs.

  • New System Tasks for Monitoring and Modifying Spectre Solver Options from SystemVerilog, Verilog, and Verilog-AMS Code: You can now  modify Spectre solver options and transient analysis parameters dynamically during simulation directly from your testbench, using the system tasks $cds_set_analog_param, $cds_get_analog_value$real, and $cds_get_analog_value$str.

  • Swapping Logic Levels with the inverse_logic option: Universal Connect Modules (UCMs) have been enhanced to support negative logic applications by swapping logic levels (for example, a uL2E connect module could generate a logic for electrical conversion, where high=-2v and low=0v) using the inverse_logic option. You can enable this option during the IE card setup.

  • Spectre AMS Designer: Support for S-Parameter Analysis in Virtuoso ADE: Starting this release, you can perform a Spectre S-parameter analysis on the analog block during Spectre AMS Designer testbench time-domain simulation. This analysis provides a powerful method to characterize high frequency and linear networks by capturing signal reflection and transmission through the analog circuitry.
