Sticky notes—who doesn’t recognize these important but tiny aids that come handy at workplace desks, study tables, and even homes.
For years, these colorful, handy paper stick-me-ups have been helping us stay organized—reminding us of our To do’s, Not to do’s, When to do’s, What's important, and What's related. Who knows, these small but smart assistants might have saved many jobs or relationships!
When you are working in the Virtuoso® Electrically Aware Design flow, we may not be able to give you reminders or task lists, but we do offer sticky note-style info balloons called point-to-point info balloons that can reveal some critical design data when you need it the most.
In EAD, you can create a point-to-point info balloon to view the electrical information between any two points on a net. And to create these info balloons, all you need to do is choose the Create New Point-to-Point Info Balloon command on the EAD Browser toolbar and then select two points on a net. While you move the mouse on a net for point selection, Layout EAD processes and extracts all the shapes present on the net. As soon as the selections are done, an info balloon sticks out on the selected part of the net, displaying all the relevant information from number of EM violations to the amount of current flowing through the net to total resistance and voltage drop between the two points, and more.
Let's see an example and note a few capabilities of these tiny wizards.
While you are exploring the critical nets in your layout, you can create many such info balloons for different nets or different parts of the same net.
Am sure when you use EAD next, you’ll first want to try out the sticky notes. And thereafter, they will be regular companions in your electromigration analysis.
