Cadence and Kyle Juszczyk Partner with Veggielution for Earth Month Event

16 Apr 2025 • 2 minute read

Forty volunteers from Cadence and the San Francisco 49ers participated in farm projects to promote community engagement and climate innovation.

In celebration of Earth Month, the Cadence Giving Foundation has partnered with San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk and local nonprofit Veggielution to host a community volunteer event aimed at supporting climate innovation and community engagement in East San José. By supporting local projects that uplift the community, the initiative highlights the power of collaboration in driving climate and sustainability innovation at the neighborhood level.

"At Cadence, we believe innovation and impact go hand in hand, and we're proud to support the San José community and celebrate Earth Month by creating meaningful, local impact. Partnering with Kyle Juszczyk and Veggielution puts that belief into action, and sharing our company's technical expertise for this hands-on community service helps build a more sustainable future," said Sandhya Venkateshan, corporate vice president of Finance at Cadence.

The event was held at Veggielution Community Farm, and brought together over 40 volunteers from Cadence and the San Francisco 49ers to engage in a series of farm-enhancing sustainability projects. These included bioswale weeding, field planting and irrigation, hedgerow maintenance, and orchard mulching—all contributing to the farm's mission of connecting people and building community through food and farming in East San José.

"I'm incredibly proud to be part of this event and to join forces with Cadence and Veggielution to give back to East San José," said Kyle Juszczyk, fullback for the San Francisco 49ers. "Being able to contribute to both the environment and the well-being of those around us is something I truly believe in, and I look forward to continuing to support efforts that make a positive difference throughout our community."

Earth Month, recognized each April, encourages individuals and organizations worldwide to take meaningful action to protect the planet. The Cadence Giving Foundation remains committed to contributing innovative solutions and technical expertise to make a lasting impact on the world. It supports nonprofits and community partners focused on STEM education and AI for All, as well as climate innovation.

"This event embodies the spirit of community-powered change we strive for every day at Veggielution," said Shawn Gerth, executive director of Veggielution. "We're proud to host this volunteer effort in partnership with Cadence and Kyle Juszczyk—whose support helps amplify our mission to promote environmental education, food sovereignty, and a more sustainable East San José. Our farm thrives on collective action, and this collaboration reflects the impact we can have when we come together."

In 2024, the Cadence Giving Foundation donated nearly $1.5 million to nonprofits supporting climate resilience, including American Forests, One Tree Planted, and Wetlands International. This Earth Month event reflects the Foundation's broader commitment to achieving NetZero by 2040 and supporting local grassroots climate solutions in the communities where Cadence employees live and work.
