maxon Is Perfecting Its Motors with Fidelity CFD

The Designed with Cadence logomaxon’s electric motors are magnetically close to perfect. Its motors are used in a wide variety of fields, from industrial applications to space technology. To optimize the motors, the maxon team is using Cadence tools.

One of maxon's electric motorsDuring the transfer of electrical energy to mechanical energy in a motor, heat loss is generated. The heat loss is what limits the power output. To make the maxon motors better, the team works on optimizing the transfer of heat, thereby increasing the power density. For this process, they use Cadence Fidelity CFD software.

Using Fidelity CFD enables the maxon team to include all the steps of the workflow of their CFD simulation in one tool, making what would be a demanding process much easier. Fidelity CFD allows maxon to go from the geometry to the mesh, the actual solver, and the post-processing in one tool.
