Vaire Computing – Near-Zero Energy Computing for Agentic AI

25 Sep 2025 • 2 minute read

The Designed with Cadence logoThe demand for AI is on the rise, with agentic AI being the next frontier. However, the classic chip is no longer sustainable for intense applications. Costs have increased exponentially as chips require more and more energy and water for cooling. Usually, increasing computing power requires increasing energy consumption, but Vaire Computing is breaking the rules with its near-zero energy chips.

Reversible computing is any model of computation in which every step of the process is time-reversible, meaning that given the output, it is possible to perfectly reconstruct the input. On the other hand, traditional computing architectures are designed to take in energy, encode it into information, and effectively throw all of that energy away from cycle to cycle.

Vaire’s near-zero chips follow the logic of reversible computing. Their computing method generates negligible amounts of heat, and instead of emitting the input information as heat, it’s recycled, powering new calculations. The technology is designed for massively parallel computation, like AI—specifically, the future of agentic AI.

Of course, the path to designing such groundbreaking technology is laden with hurdles. Vaire needed a solution that goes across the full stack, including something that could help with their mixed-signal design. The Cadence tool suite met all of their needs across the entire stack.

Cadence’s Virtuoso Studio RF was used to design the custom coils for the energy recovery technology Vaire is implementing. The Spectre Simulation Platform was used to simulate the entire chip and make sure that it works correctly. To analyze the electromagnetic interactions, Vaire used Clarity 3D Solver and EMX Planar 3D Solver.

Rodolfo Rosini, CEO and co-founder of Vaire Computing, said, “The chip industry is built on a tighter relationship with key players, EDA vendors, hyperscalers, founders, very large entities, and of course, we as a startup need to play into this market. Cadence has been wonderful, a terrific partner for this, for us, and we're really looking forward to working together and using all their technology to build the next iteration of the chip industry.”
