Cadence and Arm Are Building the Future of Infrastructure

3 Aug 2023 • 1 minute read

The Designed with Cadence logoArm has over 30 years of experience in the semiconductor industry. From fueling the smartphone revolution to enabling the software-defined vehicle, Arm is defining the future of computing, and it’s doing so with the help of Cadence.

Arm has been involved in infrastructure for over a decade, but in the past four years, things have really taken off. They’ve launched six different platforms, and every major cloud vendor has adopted Arm Neoverse. From the first Neoverse platform, the Neoverse N1, to the latest Neoverse V2 platform, Cadence has been with Arm every step of the way. Mohamed Awad, SVP and GM of Infrastructure at Arm said, “I believe there is a huge opportunity for Arm in the infrastructure. We’re already seeing the fruits of all the work we’ve done together.” He mentioned three key things Arm is looking forward to working on with Cadence: Arm SystemReady, EDA workloads on Arm Neoverse, and future technologies.

SystemReady is a set of specifications that Arm and the ecosystem have put together, enabling Arm partners to quickly and easily run existing software directly on their hardware. By working with Cadence, Arm has pre-silicon verification tools that ensure customers’ silicon will comply with SystemReady out of the gate. This means that when customers develop products, they will work on the first try.

EDA tools on Arm Neoverse represent an up to 40% total cost of ownership (TCO) improvement over traditional architectures, which is significant. For Arm, it means that partners can leverage their tools on Arm Neoverse-based servers and achieve a huge TCO benefit for themselves.

Arm and Cadence working together on technologies, such as Cadence Cerebrus Intelligent Chip Explorer’s machine learning-driven, automated approach to chip design optimization, enables them to perform simulation and validation on products such as the Arm Neoverse V2 that are pushing 3nm and beyond.

“Designed with Cadence” is a series of videos that showcases creative products and technologies that are accelerating industry innovation using Cadence tools and solutions. Learn more about how Arm is building the future of infrastructure with Cadence.
