In-Person Again for One BIG Impact

10 Feb 2023 • 3 minute read

Giving back is core to Cadence’s DNA as a company—in fact, it’s why I was thrilled to join the Cadence team as a coordinator of Cadence’s community programming back in April of 2022. For the first time in three years, Cadence was proud to bring back in-person volunteering for 2022’s Season of Giving volunteer campaign!

The seventh annual Season of Giving campaign was a huge success. This year's campaign saw over 1,000 employees from 32 locations around the world participating in partnerships with 47 charitable organizations in EMEA, APAC and Japan, the Americas, and India. Altogether, Cadence donated over $200,000 in charitable donations and over 4,000 hours of time—with an in-kind value of an additional $120,000.

Read on for a few highlights from our campaign at Cadence sites around the world:

Hsinchu, Taiwan
The Cadence team in Hsinchu, Taiwan partnered with the Taiwan Fund for Children and Families to bring support to vulnerable children and families in their local community. Over 50 employees participated in a fall harvest event and donated 156 kilograms of rice, which equates to 52 packs. This was a wonderful opportunity for the Cadence team to come together and make a positive impact by supporting the local community by purchasing from local farmers and reducing food waste along the production and supply chains. The team members not only gained knowledge of the rice-growing process, but also embraced the culture of giving and environmental, social, and governance practices.

Bracknell and London, UK
Cadence’s Bracknell team and the newly acquired team from Future Facilities in London joined forces with Rise Against Hunger to make a meaningful global impact alongside children at local schools. Together, they packed 42,000 nutritious meals in just five hours, enough to sustain 200 schoolchildren for an entire year. With support from local schools, The Emmbrook School and St. Crispin’s School, the team worked in cohesive units to sort, weigh, and pack ingredients into meal boxes. The effort provided nutritious food aid for children who might have otherwise gone without. The activity was a huge success, bringing together people from different backgrounds to make a difference. The students from the Emmbrook School and St. Crispin’s had a great time and are looking forward to future opportunities to partner with Cadence and volunteer again.

Pune, India
In Pune, India, 30 employees volunteered at the Punarutthan Samarsata Gurukulam school. The volunteers were involved in several activities including repainting the brick walls inside the school with chemical-free organic paint and creating beautiful murals using traditional art forms and natural colors. The site also had pottery and sewing equipment, where the volunteers created different earthenware and denim pouches and bags to be used by staff and students at the school. Punarutthan Samarsata Gurukulam houses around 300 children and because of the volunteer work, the roof of the science lab and seventh standard classroom was replaced. The work for the overhead water storage tank is also in progress, which will benefit around 150 students. The teacher onsite reported that a month-long painting activity was completed in a single day, thanks to the help of the Cadence volunteers!

San Jose, USA
Cadence employees in San Jose made a difference by volunteering at a variety of organizations addressing causes from addressing hunger to environmental sustainability. Over 150 volunteers came together to support five local nonprofit organizations. One particularly noteworthy activity was volunteering at Veggielution, a local community farm in East San Jose that occupies six acres of land and generates 47,000 pounds of produce every year. Volunteers from Cadence were split into two groups, with one group helping box produce for distribution to support their “Eastside Connect” program, which serves over 250 people per week. The other group helped Veggielution staff clean and maintain the site’s Youth Garden, where children and their families can learn about healthy lifestyle choices through an array of fun activities. For a South Bay native like myself, it was a proud moment to organize and participate in a volunteer activity that gave back to my local community alongside a group of passionate and enthusiastic colleagues!

The return to in-person engagement for Season of Giving was a momentous occasion for the Cadence community. The impact of this year's campaign is a testament to the company's ongoing commitment to giving back, and we are proud to see our employees making a difference as One Cadence—One Team!
