Configurable Specman Messaging for Improved Productivity

Webinar Archive Available Now!

Hello Specmaniacs:

Ever wondered how to switch on all messages, or how to switch all of them off? Or get confused by the output from the "show message" command?

You're not alone. Many users and even Cadence R&D engineers have struggled with this. The main reason for the confusion is that messages are controlled by loggers, and loggers could be anywhere (apart from the sys logger). In 12.2 we have introduced a new infrastructure to configure messages, which is not based on loggers but on the unit hierarchy of your testbench.

If you missed the Configurable Messages Webinar delivered in July, here's another opportunity for you to view the archived webinar. Hannes Froehlich, a Solution Architect in the Cadence Functional Verification R&D team presents how you can now control your messages based on the location in the verification hierarchy (unit-tree) from which the messages were emitted. This has many benefits over the existing logger based message infrastructure. In the webinar we highlight how the new infrastructure and be used, and how it fixes the issues we had with loggers.

So don't delay and view the archived webinar to:

  • Get a basic introduction to the new message configuration system in Specman/e
  • Understand how messages can now be configured based on the component hierarchy
  • Find out about the new command switches and options to configure messages
  • Learn about the new procedural message configuration APIs in Specman/e
