A few thoughts on CDNLive! and OVM 2.0

12 Sep 2008 • 1 minute read

My colleague Joe Hupcey has been keeping you informed and entertained with information and photos from this week's CDNLive! Silicon Valley event in San Jose. I've attended a fair number of talks and other activities at the show and I have to say that I found it very enjoyable.

One of my most fundamental job-related beliefs is that you always learn something anytime you talk to any customer about anything. An event such as CDNLive!, with hundreds of customers to meet and greet, offers a wealth of information along with the chance to meet in person people with whom you've only exchanged email.

Given my recent focus on the OVM, this was a key area of interest for me at CDNLive!  I found the user papers stimulating and well presented, and of course I talked with a number of additional users at the various social activities. The most common question I heard was "when is OVM 2.0 coming out?"

That wasn't surprising; we talked about OVM 2.0 plans at our OVM World Summit at DAC and provided a detailed technical update at a CDNLive! techtorial this week. Further, the two key features of OVM 2.0 -- unified stimulus and the user guide -- have been high on on user request lists since 1.0 was released in January.

So, the timing for OVM 2.0 worked out very well. As you have read in the blog from my collague Sharon Rosenberg, OVM 2.0 is now available on the OVM World site. It was nice to be able to tell all the curious customers at CDNLive! that the release would be out before the end of the show.

I think that this release is a really big deal; some customers told me that they were holding off on wide adoption of the OVM until 2.0 is out. So please download OVM 2.0 and try it out, and continue attending CDNLive! events to learn more about current and future plans for the OVM and our products.

Please let me know what you think...
