Building Bridges Through Education and Innovation

This fall, a group of 11 Cadence employees from Brazil, Germany, India, Italy, the UK, and the US volunteered with Team4Tech and Bindi International on a three-month philanthropic project to develop solutions for educators and communities that leveraged the power of AI and digital tools. Bindi is an organization dedicated to democratizing technology to empower women and children through education and community-driven development in rural areas across India.

Their Digital Community Schools (DCS) deliver learning directly to children in remote villages in India, where formal schooling is often inaccessible. The two-week onsite phase took place in Kishangarh, Rajasthan, where the team focused on two projects designed to make education not only more engaging but also accessible and sustainable across Bindi community schools.

First, volunteers developed a user-friendly community-led Monitoring and Evaluation app, enabling educators to track student progress and enhance teaching practices. This low-tech solution was intentionally designed for scalability across Bindi's schools. Second, they trained Bindi staff to utilize AI and animation tools to create localized educational videos for their Rural Media Centre. These engaging videos address essential topics such as health, climate, and general education, ensuring that learning is both interactive and culturally relevant. The impact speaks for itself. More than 1,000 learners across 19 states in India will directly benefit from these projects.

For some, the experience extended beyond technical achievements, fostering a profound sense of community among the volunteers. "It was a really great experience. We had a team from all over the world, and it was amazing to experience new cultures," said Alex Rossiter, lead software engineer.

Kades Pinto, Application Engineer, echoed these sentiments, noting, "Volunteering was the craziest and most amazing experience I have ever had, facing a new culture and country while seeing the amazing things Bindi is doing for women and kids."

"When I saw this opportunity in my inbox, I thought, wow. This is a chance to be a part of something bigger than me," shared Ariani Balbino, lead software engineer.

For others, the motivation for volunteering was deeply personal. "I joined this project because I had the privilege of having a good education in my early childhood, and I know the impact that opportunity can have on someone's life," said Mounika Kallakola, sr. application engineer.

The collaborative efforts of Cadence volunteers, Team4Tech, and Bindi International highlight the importance of working together to create impactful change. When we unite with a shared purpose, we can spark a ripple effect that strengthens communities and opens new opportunities for the future.
