Cadence Women Conference in the Asia-Pacific and Japan Region – A Recap

13 May 2025 • 2 minute read

Written by the APJ CWC Core Team.

After several successful Cadence Women Conferences (CWCs) over the past few years, we expanded the event to Asia Pacific and Japan! Employees in the region enjoyed this unique chance to network, learn, and build on the momentum of the other regions. The CWC APJ event was held in Shanghai, China, and included nearly 200 Cadence attendees.

Over three days, participants had an opportunity to join sessions and hear from strong women leaders at Cadence and guest speakers. Attendees also networked with peers during engaging activities and an Awards Dinner that recognized the accomplishments of attendees.

Shumei Chen reported back that, "CWC APJ was indeed a successful conference, and it really provided a great opportunity for Cadence APJ women to learn from each other, connect, and be inspired by excellent colleagues. I have heard several times, during the conference and after the event, from my workmates, especially R&D engineers, that they met many wonderful women colleagues, learned so much, and felt so empowered in their own work. They all spoke highly of CWC APJ and appreciated the conference from their heart."

The poster session drew enthusiastic involvement. Kate Choi said, "I was truly impressed by how actively participants engaged in the session, and it was rewarding to witness the enthusiasm and teamwork as they shared ideas and created their posters. Their collaborative spirit made the event a huge success."

As we know from computing, the quality of the output is dependent on the quality of the input, and those who spent time volunteering and/or serving on the conference's core planning team gained a lot from the experience.

Gina Chen wrote, "Being part of the core [planning] team as well as an attendee pushed me beyond my comfort zone and enabled me to collaborate deeply with talented women. The lessons I gained in courage, attention to detail, and professionalism are invaluable. Attending the event was inspiring, but being on the core team took that inspiration to a whole new level."

Tracy Zhu agreed, "It's worth all the hard work and effort. Through CWC, I have become not only a better version of myself, but also discovered new potential. It has been a valuable experience to work with so many remarkable ladies."

As with every CWC, we aim to sustain momentum and inspiration, not only throughout the host region, but across Cadence as a whole. Cindy Hwang summed up the experience perfectly: "Together, we have created a vibrant community where every woman feels empowered to speak up, share her story, and make a difference. This journey has been a testament to the power of breaking barriers and redefining what it means to be a woman in APJ. Go Women@Cadence!"
