DEI at Cadence: Celebrating Women's History Month

23 Apr 2024 • 2 minute read

Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) are not just words but values that are exemplified through our culture at Cadence. In the DEI@Cadence blog series, you’ll find a community where employees share their perspectives and experiences. By providing a glimpse of their personal stories, we celebrate our One Cadence—One Team culture and the importance of sustaining it as we learn from diverse perspectives.

Cadence sites around the world hosted a series of events, workshops, and socials during International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month in March to celebrate the women who are making a difference in the world and setting a positive example for all.

Cadence EMEA sites hosted a mental well-being session with Dr. Kamsella Chetty and an empowering live Q&A session with Tina Jones, Cadence SVP of Global HR. Cadence Brazil organized focus groups with the opportunity to comment, share opinions, and reflect on how to promote a more welcoming and respectful environment for diversity of gender identity and expression. Our APAC sites hosted yoga, mental relaxation, and networking luncheons, while our India sites held an event to attract talented women to Cadence to learn about our company.

At our San Jose headquarters, the Women@Cadence program hosted its first Made by Women Market! The event featured local women-owned businesses to support and elevate women in the community. Employees were able to stop by to shop, grab a snack, and learn about Cadence Voice Groups’ new speed mentorship and networking opportunities for women and men in San Jose. Cadence Voices was first started at the inaugural Cadence Women Conference in Monterey (2022) and is designed to empower women to drive business impact at the company. Each conference hosts Voice discussion groups and breakout sessions where attendees brainstorm and ideate on issues related to women in the workplace. After the conference, Voice Groups are formed to take these insights and form them into actionable initiatives.

San Jose employees had positive feedback to share about the market, saying they enjoyed the opportunity to socialize and highlight Cadence programs. Yesenia Carrillo, Employee Diversity and Engagement Program Manager, said, "It is inspiring to learn from talented people from different career levels and experiences. These events and programs allow employees to connect and create a stronger sense of belonging." Leticia Guzzetta, Sr. Technical Communications Manager, shared, "It was great to see our male colleagues attend the event to volunteer for our initiatives to help elevate their female colleagues."

Cadence strives to nurture an environment where employees can come together to uplift one another by providing opportunities for visibility, collaboration, and empowerment. As we continue this journey, let's remember Helen Keller’s words: “Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much.”
