Empowered to Support Our Community

28 Jan 2019 • 2 minute read

Cadence understands that the success of our business, our employees, and the community are fundamentally tied together. As part of creating a strong work environment and reinforcing our One Cadence—One Team values, we know it is important for our employees to build meaningful relationships with each other and the community. As Cadence has grown, so has our Cadence Cares programs. We’ve created several new opportunities for employees to connect with each other, do meaningful work, and have fun.

We have identified the areas where our impact in the community contributes to the success of our business, creating a virtuous cycle:

  • Promote science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) among youth
  • Create meaningful opportunities for employees to connect to their community
  • Support goodwill in the community

Our CEO Lip-Bu Tan and our Executive Management Team (EMT) see our people and our culture as the core drivers of our success, and our Cadence Cares programs enables the passionate and inspired employees we want working for us.

We offer several programs that empower employee-driven giving in our communities including five days of paid Volunteer Time Off (VTO) to all employees each year, and up to $1,000 in matching grants, to support the charities of our employee’s choosing. We also host an annual company-wide volunteer campaign called the Season of Giving, where Cadence sponsors charity projects of our site’s choosing.

Hands with heartsIn 2018, 1,200 employees used their VTO to spend over 15,000 hours of their time in the community, and 700 employees took advantage of our Matching Gifts program to double the impact of their charitable donations. Our Season of Giving campaign achieved record participation with over 1,300 employees across 34 sites volunteering to support 60 different charities over two months. We also expanded our partnership with Girls Who Code, a non-profit seeking to reach gender parity in STEM, by sponsoring their after-school clubs program and hosting our first-ever Summer Immersion Program.

We’re proud to see the impact we are making, and even more proud that our employees are inspired and excited about these efforts. In our annual Great Place to Work survey, employees responded 10 points higher this year over the past three years regarding how they feel about Cadence’s efforts to give back to the community which led to our recognition as one of FORTUNE's Best Workplaces for Giving Back three years in a row. One employee commented, “I appreciate the emphasis Cadence places on being a good citizen which programs such as matching gifts and VTO demonstrate.”

Giving back to the communities where we live and work is a central part of the Cadence culture. Helping others is deeply rooted in our 30-year history. At Cadence, we encourage our employees to make a difference—for the company, our customers, and our communities. We want to ignite our employees’ passion to innovate breakthrough technologies and support our communities around areas that they are passionate. As a company, we are committed to providing our employees with meaningful work that makes a difference and transforms lives, and helping employees live their best lives.

We’re excited about the new initiatives Cadence will introduce in 2019!
