LET’S MEET: Connecting and Creating Impact Through Networking

7 Aug 2024 • 2 minute read

Cadence recently launched the LET’S MEET series, which aims to foster authenticity and connections and improve the Cadence community.

Women at Work

The first event of the LET’S MEET series featured a recap of the recent Harvard Business Review (HBR) Women at Work virtual conference. Cadence employees who attended the conference shared what they had learned and engaged the audience in roundtable discussions.

This remarkable event brought together women leaders, professionals, and change-makers from various industries. The conference, known for its focus on pressing issues facing women in the workplace, featured insightful group discussions on three pivotal topics: Trust, Ambition, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).

Trust

The first group discussion centered on the theme of Trust as the cornerstone of professional relationships. Panelists and participants delved into how trust is the foundation for successful professional relationships and effective leadership. They shared personal stories and strategies for building and maintaining trust within teams and organizations.

A key takeaway was the importance of transparency and open communication. Many attendees emphasized that leaders who are honest about their intentions and decisions foster an environment where employees feel safe to express their ideas and concerns. Moreover, trust was highlighted as a critical factor in navigating conflicts and driving collaboration.

Ambition

The conversation around Ambition was equally invigorating. Women discussed the various ways ambition is perceived and pursued in the professional world. The panelists challenged the traditional notions of ambition, advocating for a more inclusive and holistic understanding that aligns with personal values and life goals.

There was a strong emphasis on the need for mentorship and support networks. Participants shared their experiences of overcoming barriers and the role mentors played in helping them articulate and achieve their ambitions.

DEI

The discussion also discussed the societal and organizational changes needed to support women's aspirations, such as flexible work policies and leadership development programs, in the presentation on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI): Moving Beyond the Buzzwords. This DEI discussion was perhaps the most dynamic.
