UK Interns Community Giving Day

8 May 2025 • 2 minute read

UK Interns Lady Payan Cepeda, Seiba Abdul Rahman, and Hudson Ashmoore, hailing from the Digital and Signoff Group (DSG), Custom IC and Systems (CPG) and Tensilica Product Group (TPG), respectively, celebrated National Careers Week with a visit to the "Form the Future" CIC Annual Primary School Careers Fair funded by the Greater Cambridge Partnership. The event brought over 460 young pupils aged 9 – 11 from 11 Cambridgeshire-based schools, aiming to bring together incredible organizations for children, giving them a chance to explore a world of career possibilities.

The careers fair was an excellent opportunity to introduce students to the world of electronics and computation software provided by Cadence. The early-career employees trio met through the internship program and decided to collaborate on an age-appropriate activity to spark interest. Visual and verbal explanations of AND, OR, and NOT gates were first presented to the children following a short physical demo of each gate using LEDs, where the pupils could see the gates light up in front of them. After fostering this initial learning curve, a simple circuit was created as a challenge to check on understanding. Excitingly enough, the children could solve it, and heard a celebratory song while taking away some Cadence merchandise.

Throughout the engagements, the students were curious about the electronics on display and asked further questions about the day-to-day tasks of the interns, their favourite subjects, and the best parts of their internships.

After providing simple explanations for 10 groups of young pupils, the interns went to the Cadence Cambridge office to do an intern showcase. They put together presentations explaining the work they had completed so far during their time at Cadence. Thus, informing others and each other about the various roles available at Cadence. The presentations received interesting queries from employees across various business units.

Interns' Testimonials

“As a young professional, I enjoyed being able to connect with my local community and showcase electro nics to students in their early years where aspirations are born. I feel more connected with the early career community. Finally, summarizing my work in the form of a presentation gave me a clear idea of where I want to be headed with the remaining time of my internship.”

– Lady Payan, Intern, CST-DSG UK

“I have benefited from programs like this before and was more than ready to commit my time to this volunteering. It was great speaking to the kids and answering questions about what I love about my job here at Cadence, as well as explaining logic gates to them in the most basic form possible.”

– Seiba Abdul Rahman, Intern, CST-CIC UK

“Having been inspired by professionals of the industry when I was young, I personally know the effect an inspirational figure can have on a young person. I am truly grateful for being able to give back to the community and speak with the next generation about some of the things we do here at Cadence as well as some integral concepts of EEE.”

– Hudson Ashmoore, Intern, CST-TPG UK
