Volunteering in Today’s World

7 Feb 2022 • 3 minute read

Cadence recently announced its sixth Season of Giving. Giving back is a special part of our culture here at Cadence and we do it not only in during the end of year giving season but all year long. It’s a time to give and to share, and it brings out the best in people.

Cadence teams volunteered both virtually and in-person when they were able to, making sure to follow all local safety protocols.

It was great to see employees from different business units work together as One Cadence-One Team for a good cause. Our employees were able to connect with colleagues near and far, and to make an impact by giving back to their communities.

Here are a few highlights from three charity events which took place in-person in 2021.

Munich, Germany

In May and September of 2021, ten Cadence employees from the Munich office volunteered at Caritas Kinderdorf Irschenberg, a children’s village which houses, helps, and provides psychological support and social services to children. The children live in small family units at the Children’s Village, which provides them with a stable and reliable social environment. The Caritas Village had suffered severe water damage due to a burst pipe earlier this year, which affected two homes within the village. In May, Cadence employees helped the families clear out the cellars in order to renovate and moved boxes and furniture back into the homes in September. Cadence Munich has a longstanding relationship with Caritas Kinderdorf Irschenberg and the entire team appreciated the opportunity to give back in-person.

Later in the year the Cadence Munich site committee collected donations from employees to support the Kinderdorf Wishlist for Christmas.

As part of Cadence’s partnership with the nonprofit organization Rise Against Hunger (RAH), ten Cadence Munich employees participated in the virtual team event “Race 4 RAH” in August 2021. The event consisted of a virtual race and a voluntary donation. The race distance was three miles (five km), which corresponds to the average distance a child in Africa must travel to attend school every. Employees and their families and friends were welcome to participate and donate. The difference to a classic road race was that participants did not gather at a start line and they were able to freely select a route. At the end of the event, we had a collected a total of 24 donations, raising enough money to feed 70 children for a year. A huge thanks to everyone who participated, especially the ten runners who ran combined nearly a 1,000 km! One of the most inspiring things was a daughter of one of our employees asking for donations for Rise Against Hunger at her birthday party in lieu gifts.

Sophia-Antipolis, France

In the fall of 2021, a team of 20 Cadence employees from the Sophia Antipolis office volunteered for a variety of activities in the Sophia Games including Karting, Poker, Trail, Eco Rando, Belote, Geocaching, Golf, and Cross. The Sophia Games are a unique B2B sports competition, with the initiative to bring together employees and students. They were able to compete in 50 various sports and team building events over a period of one month. Team Cadence Sophia won a silver medal in the Golf Individual category, and reached third place in the team event with two employees from the Milan office (Franco-Italian Team), three bronze medals (Belote, Geocaching, Running) and a qualification in the finals for the Poker event. In addition, Team Cadence joined the hundreds of Sophiapolitans during lunchtime to walk the Place Sophie Lafitte, armed with gloves, bags and a positive attitude to clean up the environment. As a result, about 500 kg of waste was collected, with Cadence contributing to 20 kg of trash and recycling.

In these challenging times, it was nice to see our employees giving back to their communities and to make a difference as One Cadence-One Team!
