Cadence OrCAD X and Allegro X 25.1 Is Now Available

The OrCAD X and Allegro X 25.1 release is now available from Cadence Downloads, delivering significant enhancements and new features. Here’s a summary of what's new:

Allegro X PCB and Package Design Solutions

• Introduced Allegro X AI Advanced Substrate Router in Allegro X Package Designer for optimized routing of high-density single and multi-chip designs.
• Added a positive mask option in the Cross-Section Editor to simplify the interpretation of mask layers.
• Enhanced text management with OpenType fonts, including the Mooretronics symbol font, and added new Search, Reports, and Constraints panels for instant design information access.
• Import pin delays from multiple sources, including Excel files, Constraint Compiler files, and existing pin delay formats.
• Introduced a unified Differential Pair Automatic Setup dialog, consolidating all differential pair definition features.
• Added Smart Search for properties and preferences, and a unified Exports dialog for managing data exports.
• Recommend Topology Workbench for managing topology-based constraints.
• Added new SKILL functions to extract design data and delivered significant performance improvements across design rule checks, placement, routing, shapes, In-Design Analysis, and 3D viewing.
• Replaced 3D Design Viewer with 3DX Canvas within Allegro X Package Designer.
• Install Allegro X PCB layout tools on up to five devices with a single-user license (also referred to as OnCloud licensing) for simplified license management.

Allegro X Pulse and Allegro EDM

• Improved backup checkpoint creation performance by up to 3x.
• Discontinued support for DE-HDL design flows in EDM.

Allegro X System Capture

• Upgraded the system-level design workflow for complex multi-board designs, added cross-reference report generation, and enabled support for cells with duplicate names across libraries.
• Integrated SnapMagic as a new component provider, streamlined electrical stress analysis workflows, and added separate dashboards for pre/post-layout Power Topology analysis.
• Expanded Collaboration Mode to handle more CAD and library data types and enabled post-creation updates to library templates.
• Design Entry HDL is replaced by superior capability within Allegro X System Capture.

OrCAD X Capture CIS

• Install OrCAD X Capture on up to five devices with a single-user license (also referred to as OnCloud licensing) for simplified license management.
• Enabled schematic design reviews with comments and markups and enhanced the Find and Replace functionality for part properties.
• Allowed saving and loading of design templates (.dtp file) and enabled OnCloud license borrowing for offline use.

OrCAD X PCB Presto

• Layout and canvas enhancements - Utilize OpenType fonts, including the Mooretronics symbol font, directly in the design canvas for improved text and symbol management.
• Footprint Editing - Modify pad properties directly in the Property panel with a real-time preview of all changes, ensuring accuracy.
• Constraint Management:
  • Import pin delays from multiple sources, including Excel files, Constraint Compiler files, and existing pin delay formats.
  • Automatically define differential pairs to accelerate the constraint management process.
• Library Management - Extract libraries directly from existing designs for simplified reuse.
• PCB Documentation - Enhance assembly documentation in LiveDoc with new callout shapes and customizable balloon leaders.
• OrCAD X Cloud:
  • View, review, and manage markups for schematic and layout designs directly on the web for real-time collaboration.

• In-Design Analysis - Perform Signal Integrity (SI) and Power Integrity (PI) analysis directly within the design canvas, powered by integrated Sigrity technology.
• License Management - Install OrCAD X PCB Presto on up to five devices with a single-user license (also referred to as OnCloud licensing).

PSpice and PSpice Advanced Analysis

• Expanded advanced modeling capabilities to include non-linear passive devices and memristors, and added support for GaN MOSFET models.
• Added ISO 16750-2 automotive transient sources, enabled model sweeps with the .MODELSTEP command, and enhanced .MEASURE commands for complex expressions.

Sigrity X Aurora

• DC Resistance Workflow : Introduced to compute DC resistance for power and ground nets.
• Thermal Workflow : Now provides multi-die support.
• Topology Extraction Workflow : Now enables topology-driven LayoutLink setup for multi-layout SI simulations directly from the layout.
• Sigrity Aurora User Guide : New documentation available for SI/PI analysis workflows.

Sigrity X Topology Workbench

• Subsystem Block : Introduced for creating hierarchical topologies, simplifying design, and enabling reuse.
• SystemSI, SystemPI, and Celsius Enhancements :

• • Trace Editor: Edit the cross-hatch plane library to evaluate rigid-flex designs at the pre-layout stage.
  • Back-annotation: Export optimized parameters from Layout and Clarity 3D blocks to the Allegro X Constraint Manager.
  • Jitter Analysis: Include all Tx jitter from AMI models or Analysis Options in post-processing.
  • Compliance Kits: Added support for CEI-56G/112G MR, MIPI-D, and UCIe.
  • What-If Decap Models : Assign and sweep multiple decap models on one What-If block.
