DATA Pulse: Simplify Your ECAD Data Release Process While Ensuring Process Control

22 Jan 2020 • 1 minute read

So, who likes sending weekly status reports, filing paperwork, or cleaning the microwave? Zzzz, there's the sound of monotony.

What about your ECAD to PLM publishing process? Is that a complicated chore you dread? Do you avoid it until you are forced to deal with it? Then, when you do finally push your design data to the PLM system, how often have you discovered that the parts you used in your design do not have a corporate part defined in the PLM? Or maybe they're in the system, but some of them have become obsolete, too costly, or non-compliant? Has that happened? If yes, fret no longer. We have a solution.

Our PLM publishing tool, Publish for Manufacturing, turns a multi-hour process into a few simple mouse clicks. Using Publish for Manufacturing, you can easily publish your manufacturing data to your PLM system in a few minutes. How, you ask? Before we go any further, let's first reflect on what life was like before Publish for Manufacturing…

As you can see, a fair bit of manual intervention is needed.

Now, using Publish for Manufacturing, you can create a complete manufacturing data set in one step.

Through an administrators' interface, you can define your Assembly and Fabrication documentation requirements by leveraging your existing process scripts or out-of-the-box Cadence utilities. These include the ECAD Bill of Materials (BOM) as well as the source and derived files. With support for major PLM systems, we provide a pre-configured approach, which you can customize as needed.

Simply launch Publish for Manufacturing from Allegro System Capture (using the Publish for Manufacturing menu) or from Design Entry HDL and steam ahead.

With one click, generate and collect release documentation and all required manufacturing outputs.

Preview your Bill of Materials prior to publishing your data to verify the existence of your parts in the PLM system and check risk factors, such as lifecycle, version, and other part-related PLM data.

Outputs are targeted to PLM objects per your predefined configuration. Simply review and publish!

See, smooth sailing! And here's your final data in the PLM system.
