What's Good About ADW’s Configuration Manager? Check out the ADW16.3 Release and See

5 Apr 2011 • 1 minute read

The ADW16.3 Allegro Design Workbench has a new Configuration Manager that simplifies installation and configuration of the ADW server and clients.

You can now report on the status of the server and it provides status on the following:

  • Server version
  • Memory allocation
  • Log file location
  • Database information

It allows you to easily create client installs for ADW and can be invoked as a batch script:

Read on for more details …

You can check on the health of the ADW Server from the Configuration Manager.  The “Server Status” button will open a window that contains information about the server, such as:

  • Which version of ADW is installed
  • If the server is up and running
  • Which software components are installed
  • Hardware statistics

This information is especially helpful when troubleshooting problems.

The ADW tools are launched from the startworkbench.bat command, located in <adw_inst_dir>/pcbdw/tools/bin (Note: it’s called “startworkbench” on Solaris and Linux). This file sets up the ADW environment and then invokes the ADW tools such as Flow Manager.

Creating and editing this very important file has been made much easier in ADW16.3 using the Configuration Manager button called “Setup-client.”

The Server Setup command greatly facilitates the setup and management of the ADW server-side environment.  It walks you through the installation and deployment of all server side (XL & GXL) application components.  You can use this tool to easily install ADW HotFixes to the server side.

I look forward to your feedback on this new feature.
