What's Good About AMS Simulator And Cursors? You’ll Need The SPB16.3 Release To See!

1 Jun 2010 • 1 minute read

With the SPB16.3 release of AMS Simulator, several new cursor enhancements are available:

  • Setting cursor width and color
  • Placing cursors across multiple traces and plots
  • Exporting and copying cursor data
  • Dockable cursor window

Read below to see these new features.

Setting cursor width and color

The Cursor Settings tab of the Probe Settings dialog box allows you to specify the vertical and
horizontal width and color for two cursors. You can also specify the Number of Cursor Digits as
shown below:

Placing cursors across multiple traces and plots

You can add cursors across multiple traces and plots. The cursor window displays values for the different traces.

To apply the cursors to a different trace

1. Click in the cursor box to freeze the cursor locations on the current trace.
2. After freezing the cursor locations, right-click on the new trace you want to apply the cursors.

- or -

1. From the Trace menu, choose Cursor, then choose Freeze to freeze the cursor locations on the current trace.
2. After freezing the cursor locations, right-click on the new trace you want to apply the cursors.

- or -

Press and hold the Shift key while right-clicking on the new trace you want to apply the cursors.

Exporting and copying cursor data

You can save the cursor information to a comma separated value (.CSV) file that can then be opened in tools such as Microsoft Excel. To open the file location, choose File> Open File Location. You can also copy selected values from the cursor window and paste the information from the clipboard to any text editor. Both the options to save and copy are available when you right click in the cursor window.

Dockable cursor window

The cursor window in Probe is now dockable to be consistent across all SPB products. You can drag and dock the window to any location.

Let me know how you like this new functionality in AMS Simulator!
