What's Good About Differential Pair Support in ASA?

What's Good About Differential Pair Support in ASA?

Quite a bit actually!

In the SPB16.0/SPB16.01 release of the Allegro System Architect (ASA) product, there were several new features added for Differential Pair Support. You can certainly read the details in the new Cadence Help utility (which is also new and improved in the SPB16.0 release), but here are some highlights -

  • Setup options for identifying user-defined differential pairs
  • New display icon for indicating differential pairs
  • Multiple entry methods for constructing differential pairs
    • Defining differential pairs using SI models
    • Selecting two existing signals in the Component Connectivity Pane (CCP)
    • Using the Add Signal(s) dialog box to add differential pair signals to your design
    • Adding connectivity of differential pair signals connects both legs
  • Displaying polarity of individual pins
  • Differential pair termination support for differential pair pins
  • Auto-detection of differential pairs during component addition
  • Adding Terminations on differential pairs
  • Extract differential pairs in SigXp (DRCs available)
  • Drag/Drop, copy/paste of differential pairs

Viewing signals/nets that are Diff Pairs has never been easier in ASA. The icons show where Diff Pairs exist along with polarity indicators. Tagging nets as Diff Pairs is a snap in the Signal List Pane (SLP).

Go ahead and use the Diff Pair capability in ASA -- it's simple and useful!

And ... as we approach the roll-out of the SPB16.2 release, I'll have some news about "What's Good in ASA in SPB16.2 ..."

Stay Tuned
