Crash - Solver

TobiasB
TobiasB over 1 year ago

Hello

Im am new to using FineMarine, and during the tutorials (Tutorial 5 - planning) i am having some trouble with the solver.

I dont seem to be able to upload a picture of the crash-report directly from my pc, however it says:

RUN INFO:

Pre-processing: Finished

Solver: Crashed

Post-Processing: Finished

Thanks in advance!

    Hi Tobias,

Could you please provide more information:

    • Which Fine Marine version are you using?
    • On which OS are you running?
    • If you are running in parallel: does it work in serial? The number of cores you are using is allowed by the license you have? For example, the individual student license runs on up to 4 cores.
    • Can you open the .std file in the computation folder (there is also a button to open it in the Task Manager)? At the end of the file should be more information about the reason of the solver crash.

    Hi Tobias,

First we need to make sure the ISIS-CFD license server can be found and the needed features are available.
Could you please go to the Admin Tool and check under License management the License server tab?

Does it show the licenses server as up and running?

When you double-click on the server name, does it show the features isiscfd and isismpi to be available?

The Diagnostics in the Admin Tool may also give you more info about the license server.

Please make sure that you selected both license files at the same time when activating the license.

    Best regards,
    Colinda

    Hi

Through some trial and error i got it running (so far without crashing)

I suppose it did not properly autostart the solver license after reboot.

However the solver has been running for around 30 minutes by now
