I received two emails with each a file in attachment. How to use these files?

In addition to the license file, you receive a control file from Cadence in a separate email. The control file lists the products/releases that the license is generated for. This is an informational email and does not need to be used.

    1. Prepare the license file: the license file has to be modified by the user to change CADENCE_SERVER by the license server hostname (as explained in the file header)
    2. By default, the port is 5280 but any open port can be used (the user can still use the 27000+ ports like before). If no port was assigned in the user’s previous license file, remove “5280” from the license file and leave the port assignment empty.
    3. The file header recommends changing the daemon path. However, as long as the License_management folder contains both the lmgrd and the numeca binaries, the daemon path should not be changed.
    4. Cadence use a different daemon (called "cdslmd") for their own application, but we (NUMECA) do not distribute it yet. The user should not change the lines pertaining to the cdslmd daemon in the license file. When the license server is started, the numeca daemon will be UP while the coslite daemon will be DOWN. This is not a problem.
    5. Launch the Admin Tool as installed together with Omnis or Fine.
    6. Select License Management.
    7. On the line Activate from license file(s) browse to the folder that contains the license file(s). To select multiple files hold the <CTRL> or <SHIFT> key while selecting the files.
    8. If the Port is Automatic, a check is performed on open ports in the range of 27000-27009 (portnumber1) and uses them for the SERVER (even if it is not specified in the license file). For the daemon, it will choose an open port. If the user wants to force the use of a specific port for the SERVER, they can do so by imposing it in the Port entry of the Admin Tool.
    9. If the license server is a virtual machine, the user needs to request a patch and then install the patch using the corresponding option in the Admin Tool.
    10. Once the license server has started, “Success” will appear at the bottom right of the window. The user can also verify the license service status:

o From the Admin Tool home page, click on License Management.

o Select the License server tab.

o Select the license server in the first table listing all known servers available on the machine with their running daemons.

o Information regarding the available features, number of available licenses and number of used licenses is shown in the second table.

o Note that the license server might appear as “down” because the coslite daemon is down (see the first paragraph above) while in reality the numeca daemon is up and running.
