host VDH

wout
wout over 2 years ago

Dear

In the beginning of October, I received a student license for the marine package. I have been using it frequently since then but today I wasn't able to use it anymore.

When I used the admin tool to try to solve this problem, it gives an error mentioning that the host VDH (vendor defined hostID) can't be found.

The diagnostics give error for: NUMECA activation server reachable, license file(s) validity, windows registry

the diagnostics show failed for: license server(s) reachable

Could you please help me to solve these errors?

kind regards

Wout

    Hi Wout,

Did you change anything to your hardware? For example, did you add an external hard disk for example or removed/disabled an ethernet adapter?

Are you connected to a wifi network that prevents access to the Mac address/ forces Mac address randomization?

It would be good to try with the computer configuration and network connection(s) that worked earlier.

Which OS version and which Fine Marine version are you using?

    Best regards,

    Colinda

I have not changed anything to my hardware or wifi network recently. I am using windows 11 home 22H2 and FineMarine 10.2-2.

    Thank you for your help.

It may be linked to execution rights. Did you change something in the user configuration, anti-virus or firewall?
Could you try launching the Admin Tool as administrator?

You can also launch the Command prompt as administrator and try to launch the executable that gets the VDH through:

    c:\numeca_software\license_management\isiscfd_hostid.exe

That should print a few lines to the command prompt including the hostid on that machine.
If it doesn't, what is the error message that is printed?

I have not changed anything in the user configuration, anti-virus or firewall. Launching the admin tool as administrator results in the same problems. When launching the command prompt and executing the code you sent me, it indeed prints the hostid. I checked the firewall and it states that the numeca apps have all authorizations.

The possible reason for the missing VDH was not found in this exceptional case. For the use of Hexpress the VDH is not required and the license without VDH is sufficient.
