Hello sir,

we are trying to do a sea keeping case  , but it is taking too much time

1. can we do the panel method in fine marine (potential flow)?

    Hi,

    on top of the info given by Colinda, it is true that a CFD code like Fine Marine is not using a panel approach. Our goal is to produce accurate results without all the assumptions from the panel methods.

    That is said, it is possible to reduce the CPU time by using a "light approach" and not all functionalities that Fine Marine can offer. The C-Wizard creates such a "light" setup automatically by removing viscous layers, relying on AGR (adaptive grid refinement) for almost all refinements, use the transpiration method to avoid calculating all positions of the boat, etc. We obtained almost 1 order of magnitude of speed up using this approach. Of course, this depends on the type of wave and boat's speed but it is quite interesting and a good compromise between a panel method and a fully accurate CFD code.
