cavitation of propeller

Hello !

we are trying to simulate cavitation case of a propeller from an open water case as mentioned in the attachment.

we are facing the following isses:

1. while running the cavitation case the initial cavitation number( taken =2.63) is not changing to the desired cavitation number(2.024). In the output file, we observed the initial cavitation parameter 2.63 is constant throughout all the time steps.

2. can we simulate cavitation noise in fine marine ?

    Hi,

    1. FYI, the time that the GUI is asking is the relative time to activate the cavitation. Hence, maybe this could be the issue? If you put a large time, maybe the solver just did not start to activate it?

    2. Noise cannot be simulated in Fine Marine.

    Best regards,

    Benoit

    Hi!

We ran open water for 0.5 sec physical time and cavitation ramp was considered for 0.2 sec

Could you suggest us some best practice settings for cavitation number 2.024 at J=1.109 for less computational effort.

    Hi,

all best practices are written in the dedicated section of the documentation for cavitation: User Guide > Cavitation > Best practices.

Cavitation simulation remains costly. Pressure and time must be solved accurately.

Can you send the .sim and .std files of the simulation? That will help me to understand what happens in your simulation.

    Best regards
