Extended duct issue

Hi,

I've been following the class 2 and doing the related challenge without any issues until after I extend the duct. At the domain context in the tree to the left, there is not even a "choice" segment contrary to what is shown in the class. Unfortunately I couldn't manage to figure this out and create a new design choice like shown in the class.

To circumvent this issue of not being able to duplicate the design choice I simply tried going by the route of creating a completely new second domain, with a new mesh and a new simulation. This worked well and I even got the simulation to complete and converge, but then again at the results analysis context I get another issue: I can't get the new simulation to appear in the tree and thus load it...

At this point starting completely from scratch and immediately setting up the simulation with the extended duct would certainly eliminate all the issues I am facing, but I'd really like to figure this out and do it the right way. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I have attached a screenshot showing my tree without any "choice" option.

Thank you in advance.

    Hi Mick,

thank you for your detailed description. Let's go through your questions:

    Design choices
Before you can add design choices and modify them you need to enter edit design choices via the pi menu. Having said this, your approach with creating a second domain is valid and comes to the same result. The only disadvantage it has is that you need to apply mesh and simulation settings twice.

Don't forget to leave this mode once you have set up your design choices.

    Result analysis
This is a bit tricky and was maybe not mentioned clearly enough in the video. In the bottom left of your 3d view you see the name of the simulation, which is visualised at the moment. Click on it and switch to another simulation you want to analyse.

All the best for this weeks challenge!

    Best regards
    Manuel
