Probe creation

carll

Hi,

I was following along with the video tutorial of Module 3 and up to the result analysis step, everything worked well.

But when I try to add a probe to the cutting plane I don't get values for the Mach number.

Is there a common mistake I made?

Or should I come into the live Q&A?

Thank you in advance.

    Hi Carll,

there are 2 requirements to get a visualisation:

    1. Result analysis has to be enabled on the particular simulation:
    2. This simulation needs to be the active simulation setup. To do so activate it in the bottom left:

You might wonder, why it has to be activated twice, but it becomes reasonable once you have mutliple simulations you want to compare. In these cases the analysis is activated on multiple simulations (in your case for exmaple CFL=1, CFL=2, CFL=3). Then you prepare a result analysis page. Then you can quickly jump from one setup to the other by activating a setup in the bottom left menu.

Maybe another point: Your screen shot looks a bit like you are using a cutting plane, which is not intersecting the flow domain. This could be also a reason why you do not see a plot. For the homework I would recommend to plot directly on the symmetry plane or for example change the orientation of your cutting plane so that its normal vectore is pointing into the flow direction.

    Does that solve your problem?

    Best regards
    Manuel

    Hi Manuel,

thank you very much for the quick answer.

It seems that the problem was the double activation. I just retried and now it works.

    Best regards
