Problem with starting the Simulation

NicoBu
NicoBu over 2 years ago

Hi,

I always get the following Problem while trying to start the simulation.

Cannot start the computation: Simulation 1
- Problem(s) in Domain 1:
-> The selected mesh is not compatible with the current active design: Choice 1. Please, select another one.
How can I fix this?

Kind regards

    Hi Nico,

could you check that in the simulation context a mesh is selected under choices please?

If you create a new simulation setup and you add a domain, for which a mesh is already generated, the mesh setup will be selected automatically. If the mesh generation is still running, while you setup your simulation, the mesh setup is not selected. Instead the geometry is selected, which will not work.

Please let me know, if that solves your problem.

    Best regards
    Manuel

    Hi Manuel,

    that was the problem.

Unfortunately I get another error while simulating: S_Simulation 1 Error: ERROR: residual of Mass is Not A Number: the solver has been stopped

I already know that this problem is occured to a divergating simulation. I receaved a warning to decrease the CFL Number before starting the simulation to 1.5. Should I do that instead of the CFL = 3 like written in the Handout?

    Kind regards

    Hi Nico,

no please keep CFL=3. The exercise is designed to operate with this value. Can you double check in advanced mode that residual smoothing = Activated? This is very crucial - otherwise the simulation will diverge right after teh corase grid initialisation when the solver switches from CFL=1.5 (during CGI) to CFL=3 on the finest grid level. Also please check the characteristic velocity for the low speed flow option.

Just to be sure you have th correct updated hand-out, I paste it here. The red values all have an important impact onto the convergence!

    Best regards
    Manuel

Hi, same result here, simulation does not reach the -6 convergence criteria. It stops just a bit before

better said, no error, just the warning at the end of the sim that simulation did not converge fully
