As brief as I can be, twenty+ years doing board layouts with all kinds of packages, and I am expecting an interview for a company that uses Cadence/Allegro, which I have not yet seen. I downloaded the demo of Orcad v16 to take a look at what I would be seeing if I get the job.
Simply put, the biggest question I have from the demo is, how do I turn on the pads of each component, rather than them being simply outlines? The demo board has a number of components, and I simply cannot see how I make the pads for each part appear with whatever color I choose for that layer (smt)
I am hoping this is just a setting somewhere, and not the way that the PCB editor actually works, as I like to see layers and colors as I work :-)
If the question is too vague, its only because I want to keep it short, and hope for an answer that would allow me to keep working with the demo so I can approach the interview with lots of confidence that I will be able to hit the ground running fairly quickly

Most of the options to set visibility are under the setup menu. Try looking under setup->design parameters. Then under the display tab, look to the right where there is "Enhanced Display Modes". You should be able to select "Filled Pads"
Write back if that doesn't work -- I am using Allegro but I think the interface is the same.

Something you might want to do is step through each menu and see if you can figure out what its function is...there are lots of sub menus hiding there...
Try running the tutorials (if they are included in the demo)
Make sure you look at symbol building and pad stack creation as well.
