Hi, I am new to Linux and looking for some customization of the text editors in Linux.
I am wondering how I can customize the text editors in Linux (such as gvim or nedit) to highlight the SKILL syntax?

For nedit use "Preferences > Default Settings > Language Modes" to define SKILL as a new language and once done you can use "Preferences > Default Settings > Syntax Highlighting > Recognition Patterns/Text Drawing Styles" to define the actual syntax highlighting for SKILL. It's a bit of a pian to define the syntax highlighting but you can use existing languages as examples. Otherwise I can email you what I have but it's pretty basic.

SKILL is based on Lisp so you might be able to use Lisp syntax highlighting.

I just published a demo of a programming editor/IDE I've been working on lately; it has really good SKILL/SKILL++ support:
(Recent Google Chrome recommended; Firefox is a bit slower.)
It's mostly feature complete for v1.0, but is only about to enter Beta, so you will probably encounter some bugs. Note that I'm also planning to release a standalone tool soon-ish; it'll work like this:
$ veda edit ./project/workarea/

For those preferring Emacs, I'd recommend a slightly-customized Lisp mode—and sticking to the prefix syntax. Note, however, that my code analysis backend is actually independent from the web browser, and can be plugged there too; I have attached a screenshot of Emacs showing function call tips.
